Adding salt to the wounds of Republicans, ObamaCare has proven extremely popular with Americans on its first day of open enrollment. State Exchanges from the west coast to the east coast have been overwhelmed with people trying to sign up for health insurance. The Republican propaganda that ObamaCare is a trainwreck seems to have convinced no one. The outpouring of support from the public has been so overwhelming that some state exchanges have to temporarily halt new applications due to the ridiculous online traffic to their websites. The New York State exchange for example received 2 million visits in the first 2 hours alone. This is the message on the website:

Quote:
Attention:

Due to overwhelming interest in the NY State of Health - including 2 million visits in the first 2 hours of the site launch - the health exchange is currently having log in issues. We encourage users who are unable to log in to come back to the site later when these issues will be resolved.
Even in red state Kentucky the response has been overwhelming:

Quote:
Commonwealth of Kentucky citizens have shown tremendous response to KYNECT since we established our marketplace. The KYNECT Website is currently experiencing log in issues and our technical team is working to resolve the problem. While we work on resolving the problem please browse the KYNECT website to view Medicaid offerings, Health Insurance Plans, and other useful information. Thank you for your patience and continued support.
Some state exchanges are completely down due to traffic like the Connecticut and Washington State exchanges.

And this is just a sampling of the states that set up their own exchanges. The federal exhanges for the other states that did not set up their own are also overwhelmed. Reports are that the federal exchanges have already received millions of applications in only the first couple hours.

This is why Republicans wanted so badly to kill the law. They know that it would be extremely popular with Americans and they fear that it will become a permanent weapon in the democratic arsenal like Medicare and Social Security.

Yes, millions of Americans who can't afford the exorbitant prices for private medical insurance. What a shock.

I'd wager that the CBO has not gone back to recalculate the amount of government subsidy needed now that employers cut hours/benefits and got waivers.

Congress better eliminate the debt ceiling never mind raise it.

LoL, is that all you got?

Millions of Americans now have access to affordable healthcare. Your party tried to stop that but couldn't. This is a great day for America.

It can be free for anyone this year. Uncle Sam is not going to verify your income.
And Uncle Sam didn't say what they would do if you lie come filing your returns in 2015.

Like the Lifeline program fraud, they just dropped people and never demanded restitution.

Visits != Applications

Are you lacking the knowledge to understand the difference, or were you deliberately lying?

Regardless, it's no surprise that the NY site is seeing a lot of traffic. I would imagine that all the sites are. That doesn't mean that it's not a train wreck - which it certainly is. It only means that the website for the program that's been on the news non-stop for years has finally launched, and people want to see what it's about.

Thread fail.

Why would they need the web site to see what it's all about? Republicans for four years have assured us that Obamacare will mean the end of the universe as we know it. Were people unconvinced?
