This is precisely why we're stuck with inadequate people like Obama in office. Because the other parties are selecting idiots as candidates. The republican party is a joke right now but it's not beyond repair.

I think, though, that it isn't a major surprise, and there were some among the Republican leadership who were quite confident that taking their petulance to the extreme as they have would likely have negative consequences for their objectives, overall. There are simply way too many nut-jobs on the right to forestall such idiocy from ensuing - the cooler heads rarely prevail in the GOP at the outset, but rather more often after the self-damage is done.

No doubt, some of these people are asleep standing up. That is the best possible conclusion, although yours is likely far more accurate.

Isn't Glen Beck still claiming that ACORN (disbanded several years ago) stole the election for Obama 11 months ago?

Default As my dear old grandma used to say...

"Goodness, gracious, sakes alive!"

Excerpts from today's Washington Post:

The latest NBC/WSJ poll is just a disaster for the GOP. The highlights: - By a 22-point margin, the public thinks the Republican Party is more to blame for the shutdown than President Obama. NBC's Mark Murray notes that that's "a wider margin of blame for the GOP than the party received during the poll during the last shutdown in 1995-96."
- Like Gallup, this poll shows the Republican Party at record levels of unpopularity. Only 24 percent have a favorable opinion of the GOP, and only 21 percent have a favorable opinion of the Tea Party. Both are "all-time lows in the history of the poll."
- The Democratic party, by contrast, has a 39 percent favorability rating. That's pretty much unchanged from recent months, and is in fact the precise same favorability number Democrats posted in May.
- Last month, voters preferred a Democratic Congress to a Republican Congress by three points. This month, it's up to eight points.
- Obama's approval rating has nudged up by two percent. This is a similar finding to the Washington Post/ABC News poll, which found Obama's numbers slightly improved even as the GOP plummeted.

The Republicans’ worst poll yet

It appears that the public doesn't really share those shutdown/secessionist/birther sentiments after all. This morning's news reports are claiming that the public's approval of Obamacare has even nudged upwards.

I wonder if Boehner ever thought it could get this bad? He and the teabaggers must be total idiots to think mainstream America would approve of their antics.

Whats even more stupid is that both sides are saying the same thing...nope not gonna play...

But the left continues to say..oh oh oh oh ....look at what the repubs are doing, how disgraceful....all the while the dems are doing the exact same thing...

So, let me ask this to the left on this board....

You want the repubs to fix what has been put in place by dems...why?

Secondly, over the last 50 years, congress has been about 50/50 for who has been in charge of congress....do you really think they (congress) really cares about you? Really...
