I have to hand it to Cruz and the Tea Party, it takes some real stones to protest closing of a monument that you were actually key in closing. Love the people carrying confederate flags, Sarah Palin, man with a gun, really reasonable group.
Quote:
After driving the GOP’s efforts to shut down the government over Obamacare,
Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) headlined a march on Sunday to protest
the closure of national parks and war memorials. Cruz and Lee shared the stage
with former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin at the Million Veterans
March. The Tea Party was out in full force, with attendees waving giant
Confederate flags in front of the White House and speakers calling for President
Obama to “put down the Quran” and “come out with his hands up.” One man was arrested at the World War II
memorial with a rifle and ammunition.

Check out the comment on that page, I agree with this poster 100%
"Hiding behind veterans is an old right wing ploy. Nobody abuses veterans more, or has less respect for them, than Republicans, especially teabaggers. This is the typical hypocritical cowardice of the conservative movement, and their plummeting numbers are an indication of their weak and sordid tactics."

The title of the topic should read: "SOME" veterans, etc. It is misleading to make the claim that most or many of them objected. Many vets support the views of the teaparty.
I had to laugh when I read who wrote this article. "Think Progress"? If that doesn't send up a red flag then I don't know what does. No bias there, right?
Yeppers, not everybody fell for the dog and pony show the RNC and Bachmann, et. al put on.
This. Everyday citizens have been walking past the barricades and moving them out of the way at the WWII Memorial since the shut down began. No one there to see the Memorial paid much attention to Palin and crew. Who were brought on on a couple of buses. Yawn. (I've seen bigger crowds at the Apple store.)

Politicians? Taking advantage of Veterans? You don't say.
That said the Tea Baggers, while they initially had a decent concept, have quickly gone looney. Seriously, the quicker we put them down the better off this country will be.

The media sure paid attention to their photo op, would have been better if they helped out the veterans that rely on meals-on-wheels, I guess that would have inconvenience Cruz.
I think this has to be one of the worst photo ops/political exploitation moments since Paul Ryan "washed" the already clean dishes at a homeless shelter.
Massive fail for Caribou Barbie and Cruz.
