Congress is still trying to weasel out. Senator David Vitter is trying to get legislation passed that would stop the ‘subsidies’ congressional staff would get to help them with ObamaCare which is, effectively, another exemption.
So, since they get their insurance as a benefit of their job (being a government employee) they are in fact exempt from Obamacare. As written into the law.
They do not pay for it, they are not forced to use it, but it is provided by the government (and it is not Obamacare).
It would indeed seem that they are exempted from the hassle and penalties of Obamacare.
This has been debunked so many times, but the myth still keeps cropping up as fact. Either tea party/Libertarian/Constitutionalist posters on here have reading comprehension problems, or their memory is extremely selective.

Vitter's amendment would stop congressional members and their staff from getting employer contributions. Are you actually suggesting that staffers who make about $30,000 a year shouldn't receive employer contributions just like anyone else?
There is no Congress exemption and saying otherwise is just a lie.
They get their insurance from their employer, much like most employees with health benefits do.

Inconvenient fact. Deal with it.
But, if it is "good", why wouldn't they want to buy from the exchange? And, I found this article interesting: New strategy to stop Obamacare

Tell me how they pay? Do they write a check to the insurance carrier every month? Electronic transfer? Get so much per every hour they work going into a health fund?
This is an easy fix... Decrease their take home salary by the amount of said insurance. Then... their paying for it. Until that point it's being subsidized by the government... which is us the taxpayers paying for them.
Guess we should tell everyone in the military to give up their insurance too for ACA. There was nothing in ACA that said that all of the federal government should give up their employee insurance.
There also was nothing in it saying that all government employees should be exempt. Or even just those that support Obama. Yet, here we are.
