Personally, I would never spend that much on a bag. No way, no how. Even if I was a millionaire, not gonna happen. That's absurd. But whatever, if that's what she wants to do then that's her choice. I think it's stupid & wasteful but it's not illegal. Racial profiling however is despicable.

The process of giving "refunds" for more than people paid should be ended immediately. It's absurd that people get back thousands more than they paid in.

My wife has quite a few expensive purses. Her newest is a Dior bag that cost over $4200. She has a closet full of bags with an average price of $2500-$3000 each.
I could care less what people spend their money on either. Hell, I've bought my wife a 4 figure Louis V bag. But, I can afford it.
And I'm willing to bet my paycheck, that this girl doesn't have $2500 saved, but she does have 1 kid, 1 on the way and apparently no husband.

The Earned Income Credit just reduces taxes on earned income. You don't get back more than you put in. So "in fact" anyone who reduces their taxes is spending "your" tax dollars. Why don't you go after high income earners who finds ways to reduce their taxes?
Her money, her discretion how and where to spend it. She could have bought a sofa or a cruise vacation and no one would make an issue of it, but maybe she felt she needed to treat herself to something special and new pricey handbag was it for her.
Yes, along with all rest of the 50% who pay federal taxes. Why is the government taking money from people to send back checks to others who didn't pay it in?

EIC is a refundable tax credit. Meaning you get the full refund, even if you didn't pay in that much in taxes. So you have two children, you qualify for $5200 in EIC (assuming you have earned income.)
If your taxes owed are $2,000, then the government sends you a check for $3,200. Free money that you never paid into the system. Money that they take from taxpayers like me. That's the money she used to buy her $2,500 purse.
