They are in business to make money, overseas workers accepted the wages, and customers were happy to buy cheaper products.

So why are people unhappy with the consequences (less jobs/wages, worse products) that anyone could have seen coming?

It's bad for Americans to lose those jobs, that's why they're unhappy with it.

But at the time people thought that cheap products were better, right?

The American people didn't take a vote on it. They had a choice between two free trade parties and are up against political conventional wisdom that free trade is a great thing.

Let's go back to say, 1975. Adjusting for inflation, which of the same products today are that much cheaper than they were in 1975? And I'm not talking about new technology products (like VCRs) that often start out as very expensive when first sold to the public. Regular, everyday items.

First off the people who sent the jobs overseas knew what was going to happen.
Secondly, it led to job loss and lower wages along with other issues for the middle class largely. Cheaper goods and more profit for corps hardly can make up for job losses.

Paying 1500 for a pc with a decent job far outweighs paying 600 for one with no job. LOL.

Why would you say that? It's relative. That is just corporate propaganda.

Because the American people have a relationship and a vested interested with companies that formed in the United States. All companies that started in the United States used public assistance provided by the US tax payer in getting off the ground, then as they expanded and grew as a company more tax payer resources were used. These resources include Fire, police, roads, legal protection, military protection, international treaties, etc. These services do not come free as most large corporations would have you think. Then what happens is a company will off-shore 70 to 80% of all it's employees, pay as little taxes as possible, and opt out of this relationship thereby breaking the pact which got them going.

Its all about money. Make a cheap product and still sell at a high price. Moving overseas makes this possible. The companies, and the the gov. for letting this happen, countnt care less how it affects this country. The rich get richer. There will be an end to this. It wont be pretty.

Only people with little money deal with the issue of cheap goods. That is out of necessity not desire. People want a good product or svc at a good price.
