Well, it's always seemed pretty simple, direct and to the point, but I'm sure you're right. I don't know jack squat about it. Can't wait to hear how wrong I am that Thou Shalt Not Kill really does in fact NOT mean that you should not kill......

Do you think it means you do not have the right to self-defense?
I don't think it means you must lay down your life to an attacker.

It's not like the difference between defending yourself and KILLING someone is a thin line though, no?

But again, I'm trying to find out what the correct translation of "Thou Shalt Not Kill" is, because according to the poster that I quoted I did not fully understand. Any help there?

It's actually wrong...

The original hebrew is לֹא תִּרְצָח

רצח
Is the active verb and translates as murder or unlawful killing

This translates to "Thou shalt not murder"

Which biblically makes far more sense since there are a million and one people to kill, and even some that you would become eligible to be killed if you don't summarily kill them.

Criminals and killers don't care about gun laws. Gun Laws will not stop aholes and nuts who want to kill. Look how many laws were broken by that nut in Conn, do you think he gave a damm about Conn gun laws. I have a gun to protect my family when the police don't come in time to protect us. I find it interesting that after these senseless killings gun ownership increases, maybe they want to protect themselves and not rely on the police comming in time?

Let the whiners have their gun free city. Then only the crooks will have the guns and terrorize the citizenry.

I have to register my car, does that mean the government is coming to take it?

The NRA says keep guns from criminals and the mentally ill, but don't we have to know they have guns in the first place?
