Bush and Cheney portraits will come down at noon Tuesday -- and then be destroyed

January 19, 2009 17:52PM

CLEVELAND --
Portraits of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney that hang in federal buildings across the land will come down about noon Tuesday, which is when the outgoing administration officially comes to an end.

"We're going to try to get it as close to noon as possible," said Kathy Lease, supervisory property manager for the General Services Administration in Cleveland.

Once removed, the portraits will be destroyed.
Hmm....Seems like such a waste, unless recycling was involved....

I hope they can salvage the picture frames.

Perhaps the pictures could be given to carnivals for new shoe-throwing booths.

Recycle the frames. Recycle the pictures. Just don't recycle the men.

Keep the frames and pictures. Reuse the frames for the new pictures and let monkeys finger paint on both sides the old pictures.

They can give me the Bush portrait...I would love to have it, if it isn't too big, but either way I will find a spot for it....

They're "respectfully destroying" the pictures because they want to avoid the whole dartboard, finger-painting scenario.
