Hi Clark,
The Utah Federal judge denied the stay there, this morning. An Ohio judge
gave their ruling today on the discrimination against same-gender recognition
on a death certificate which is said to open the door for equality on marriages.
Utah marriages are still being performed. New Mexico and most probably Utah
(will try to appeal...but they don't have a leg to stand on). In Ohio, it will be
difficult to allow same-sex marriage for dead people but not for the living. The
lengths some people will go to stop someone else's happiness.
I heard this today about Ohio, and while I see that ruling as definitely a step in the right direction, I have to withhold my most enthusiastic congratulations for the day the state itself starts issuing licenses to same sex couples.
But I do believe the writing is on the wall, and I look forward to the day when marriage equality comes to Ohio, as well as when the appeal process is over in Utah and same sex couples can continue to marry legally there.
I was just want to plant this quote from the bible here for all our religious friends who judge homosexuals negatively:
Matthew 7
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
Petition your state legislature to change the Mississippi marriage law, if you don't like the current one.
You can do that in this republic.
Isn't freedom great?
There is already a court case pending.
