That's a refined product, the raw resource is imported and production increases here in the US is on private land and have occurred despite what Washington has done.

The Day After Tomorrow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think we all know that Hollywood's credibility was long gone, even before they awarded Al Gore an academy award for his "science-based" movie, "Inconvenient Truth."

One good thing Hollywood has done is to make people more discerning between propaganda and actual science. If Hollywood was not so completely discredited, it would be more difficult to distinguish between reality and fantasy.

Even if that were true, how would calling for an expansion of the size and scope of government negate the accuracy of scientific research? You are arguing that this is mutually exclusive (unable to exist at the same time), that an expansion of government would somehow make science flawed, which, of course, is absurd.

And, of course, you are incorrect in that science somehow is dependent on government in the first place, which is a bizarre connection to make, and ties your fear of science to your hatred of government. (See #4: Claiming the Scientists Misrepresent Data for Increased Funding)

Again with this bizarre connection of government to science, where one cannot exist with the other. You live in your own world, that is for sure. And to think the U.S. government is "anti capitalistic" is the howler of the day.

No it is not absurd, whether it's the military, EPA, FBI, <insert any alphabet agency here> they all attempt to expand the size of their role and funding. They do that by creating things to do and if you think science is immune from the politics of government funding you are being naive.

At least one of the things going on here is the whiners' continuing inability to understand the meaning of 'global'.
Yeah, its cooling globally.

If we want to have some idea of what global climate will do to the weather we are in store for the immediate future (within the next decade), we should look at the what the climate was like during the 1880s and 1950s.

In both cases global temperatures declined, but that did not end the violent storms. Alaska just recently (2012) broke the record for the most snowfall, previously set in 1956. I think you will find the current weather patterns for your area will also be similar to those experienced during the 1880s and 1950s.
