Somebody mentioned "Counter Culture" this summer and I didn't know what it meant.

Any clarification?

Do you mean progressivism? If so, it counter to what is good. It is a group of extremist trying to push their thinking on everyone else.

I would think it's self-explanatory. Anything that runs counter to the prevailing culture, from atheism to steampunk to Goth to survivalists to homeschooling to vegans.
What are my thoughts on it, as queried in the OP?

If a counter culture becomes mainstream then it is no longer a counter culture. The matter of productivity would depend on the counter culture itself and the environment it exists in.
