You likely view that statement as jumping to conclusion and being unfair. That's because I took yours and replaced it with conservative instead of liberal. Not all liberal think the same. Suggesting they do fits you in with the general statement made above; a close minded bigot.

Political correctness isn't a bad thing. Your not wrong in saying it's worried about too much, but there is a level of political correctness that corresponds with simple decency and politeness.
Why don't progressive liberals practice what they preach?

At least we don't call anyone who doesn't ride your bandwagon "RACIST".

I wondered when I'd hear the next over-generalization from Smittyjohhny.

And actually, I don't know of too many people who get mad at "Merry Christmas", but I can think of and entire conservative network that has spent years whining about people saying "Happy Holidays", that being Fox News. Although, they also use the latter phrase themselves, so...

The word groupthink is described in the book 1984 and is beyond PC. It is actually beyond socialism and communism. It is total despotism in which government rewrites history and changes vocabulary.

Great question. Wish I had an answer to this. My best guess is the a combination of media and socialization. Political action is not promoted in the public school system. Any kind of action actually; it's about obedience more than education or a desire to learn. And the media does this weird limbo of happy go luck "news" and shout matches to get people riled up, but only enough to sign online petitions and tweet about it. Too many liberals just sit back, and honestly, the same could be said about conservatives, though ultimately the issues lies with the up and coming generation, the one I'm (sadly) apart of. People don't take action is my short answer. The ones who do don't necessarily have our best interests at heart, and are certainly not progressive based on my definition. The best word I can come up with is authoritarian, but it should be noted that this ideology is not exclusive to the left or the right.

Ultimately, my version of political correctness is simply trying not to be a prick. I do my best to remain open minded to all ideas, even those that disagree with me. That can be difficult.

The only thing I have zero tolerance for is fundamentalism of any kind. That kind of thinning eliminated free thought and usually common sense.
