It wouldn't matter what Republicans suggested. Nothing would get past the Senate, and Obama wouldn't sign it anyway.

For years I've been saying that regressive soak-the-poor taxes are sustainable, because poverty never goes away.
Jon Stewart earns about 400 times what the highest-paid TV cameramen earn. Limosine Liberals only care about absurd, bloated salaries when it's not their own. Singers, actors and athletes are fairly compensated, while the people who run businesses that manufacture medicine, create energy and distribute our food are greedy, evil opportunists.

Mob-rule is a rough sea for the ship of state to ride; every wind of oratory stirs up the waters and deflects the course. The upshot of such a democracy is tyranny or autocracy; the crowd so loves flattery, it is so 'hungry for honey,' that at last the wiliest and most unscrupulous flatterer, calling himself the 'protector of the people' rises to supreme power.
