A word of warning: I also know from personal experience that due to mixups they can repeatedly call the wrong name. That's why it pays to keep inquiring during your wait, and don't assume they have it right - especially if you hear them calling a certain name over and over with no response. Sick people who are waiting aren't likely to just leave the ER. It might be you.
Only been to an ER a couple of times in my life. Never waited at any of them. Guess I've been fortunate.

I fail to see what this has to do with Obama. Was HE supposed to watch this woman? She had more problems than a bladder infection, as well. Why does it take even longer than an hour at an emergency room? Around here, you hardly have to wait at all.
The ER isn't first come first served. Hospital staff triages cases. If one comes with cut finger, s/he may sit for hours and hours before being seen. In big hospitals, especially public hospitals, the waits can even be days.

I had no question with the link. I questioned the interpretation of it: That Obama was somehow responsible for this incident; that this woman was in the hospital for a simple bladder infection. Try again.
