Do gays believe that marriage must be a three-way inclusive of the government?

If so, why?

Are you asking if people are waiting until it's legal to get married to get married?

Marriage gives legal protections and benefits (inheritance, custody, visitation rights, tax ...) ...and legal by definition means recognition by the gov't.

Why do hetrosexuals believe that marriage must be a three-way inclusive of the government? Why do they get licenses at city hall?

Many of us have been married for years, but not LEGALLY married. I know couples that have been together in a committed relationship for 30+ years without any marriage certificate.

Why is the tone of your post directed towards only gay people?

Do straight people believe marriage is a three way inclusive of the government? Why does the straight lifestyle push straight people into marriage with the government?
