She was a child actress in a time in which that sort of character was not seen by the adults that supervised her as disrespectful.

Except that it was the Republican Eisenhower who first sent advisors there and the Republican Robert McNamara who was one of the principal architects of the war and the Republican Nixon who prolonged the war to benefit his reelection campaign and more than 58,000 American dead.
