I think another state passed something similar to this last week so this must be a trend that is catching on. I agree with this bill that if you are a business owner and believe in and live by your faith that you should be able to refuse service to whoever you want.

Arizona Senate: Business owners can cite religion to refuse service to gays

This thing is so broadly written it would allow anyone to claim anything is a religious freedom.

Quote:
2. "Exercise of religion" means the PRACTICE OR OBSERVANCE OF
RELIGION, INCLUDING THE ability to act or refusal to act in a manner
substantially motivated by a religious belief, whether or not the exercise is
compulsory or central to a larger system of religious belief.
http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/51leg/2r/bills/sb1062p.pdf

So basically anything goes, as long as you say it is a religious belief.

I guess that a Muslim or Jewish owner of a business may then deny service to a Christian?

Yep.

Of course the majority of their patrons would be Christian and that would drive them out of business but they could if they wanted to.

Gays make up less than 1% of the population.

I do find it interesting that the notification amendment to this bill was scrapped. If you want to live by your beliefs, why not advertise that you live by those beliefs?
Discriminate all you want, but you should have to put a list in the store window of everyone you refuse to serve. That way people could decide if they want to spend money in your store.

Come on people be proud of your beliefs. What are you afraid of?

You may "think" that... but Id like to see you make a cogent constitutional argument to your "thinking".

Lets see if the lawyers for Arizona defending the constitutionally of this law in court can.

Sounds like a great plan to me

Might as well go back to not serving black people as well. Either way, I'd be out lol.

Edit: What about bisexuals? Are they welcome? **Might be back in due to past history

My homestate politicians back at their normal idiocy again. And whaddya know..led by yet ANOTHER East Valley idiot..as usual.

I used to be proud to be an East Valley native, but I ain't so sure anymore. Thank goodness I'm no longer in Maricopa County. SMH..

Arizona...comfortably maintaining its reputation as having the dumbest, most insane politicians in the western world.
