Don't make a mockery of my thread either...

Why do we still have the Polar ice caps?

It was predicted 5 years ago they would be gone. Do tell...

Those alarmists predictions were incorrect. Humans are affecting the climate but not at the level predicted by Hansen and like climate scientists.

The density of the polar icecaps precludes their simply melting like ice cubes. After all, they are expanses of ice which are larger than the continental US and anywhere from feet to miles in depth. It would take a long time for them to melt even if the temperature climbed five degrees above its norm (an event which would probably result is worldwide drought making ice caps melting a rather minor issue)

Glaciers ARE melting around and this can be seen in the US, the Alps in Europe and South America. Airplanes and people who were lost decades or even centuries ago are being uncovered by changes in the climate. the same seems to be occurring at the poles, only at a slower rate.

Who predicted they'd be gone by now? It's a serious question. Predictions I've seen are about 50 years in the future at the worst.

Edited to add: Just saw the post regarding Al Gore. Personally, I prefer to get my science prognostications from scientists, but that's just me.

Why did he win such a prize if he does not know anything about it?

The 5 year prediction is incorrect, but that doesn't mean that it isn't melting.
