Elbert Breshears wife has dementia and she needed medical help.

The 78 year old man called 911 and instead of paramedics arriving first, the Humansville police showed up.

They immediately began to beat the man, leaving him with injuries that required stitches.

Elderly man calls for ambulance, violent cops beat him instead | The Daily Caller

This is why one never calls 911 except in absolute dire circumstances and never, ever calls the cops.

Shouldn't there be procedures in place where cops do not show up on purely medical related calls unless a paramedic deems their presence necessary after they have surveyed the scene?

This completely unnecessary incident is going to cause many people to distrust the 911 system.

These thugs belong in jail.

"Human"sville indeed.

This is incredible. There has to be more to the story than what was in the article ... if not ... elder abuse and jail for the abusers ... as a beginning.

One article says the police were familiar with these people, whatever that means. So, I'd like to hear what the neighbors have to say about this couple. Either way the cops shouldn't have hurt him. I doubt I will be able to jump right up like a ninja when I'm 78.

A local news source reported his wife was screaming for help when the police arrived. The guy ran and fell.

No telling from any of these reports what really happened.

This can be a scary position........if anyone has been around someone with dementia or Alzheimers all kinds of things come out of their mouths. Best for the cop to ask questions, before assuming the man was beating her.

This is beyond a cops job and the mans face looks a hell of a lot worse than just a shove to the gravel.

I hope someone is able to take this officer off of patrol. A desk job may be more appropriate.

There might be more to the story, however, there's never the need to beat an elderly person. They can be subdued without being beaten.

I totally agree with you.

Looking forward to learning more to this situation.

Cops are like attack dogs, when they are in doubt, they attack. Violence is their answer for every situation. They are simply the strong-arm of a tyrannical government.

Sounds like if you want to bump grandpa off for the inheritance, you need no longer wait for him to "fall" down the stairs.

One now need only call the cops to "help" him with something.

YOURE the one spreading fear and distrust with your agenda-driven hyperbolic postings based on dubious "reporting" in RW fish wrappers.
