It does have more than a million shares and views on dozens of sites. Not defending his words or opinion, just noting that that it is making the rounds.

What is your definition of "viral"?

It's a side issue but this article entitled "Triple Amputee’s Scathing Letter To The American President Goes Viral" had zero shares when it was first posted. It's like ABC advertising that "the number one comedy hit of the season" debuts next week. A misleading Buzzfeed type headline can make all the difference.

Hundreds of thousands - including myself - tried to tell you idiots that going to war was a bad idea, and would you listen? Nope, we were terrorist-coddling Saddam-lovers and failed to realize that 9/11 changed everything, and besides, disagreeing with the President in a time of war was tantamount to treason. (That changed abruptly.)

You - including the writer of this letter - desperately wanted to jam your wedding tackle in the garbage grinder. Roundly aided and abetted by the media, of course.

Then-state-senator Obama in fact had the nerve to take the unpopular viewpoint that perhaps Desert W. Storm wasn't the greatest idea.

So - if you want to assign blame, look at the media, look at the politicians - the manipulators and the manipulated - and look at yourselves. You can hate Obama all you like, but he actually spoke up against the silliness, and no FW:FW:Fw:fw: email is changing that.

Why is he blaming the Clintons, Obama, Carl Levin, Kerry and Pelosi for the Iraq War? Obama, Levin and Kerry were against invading Iraq.

We know who the instigators and cheerleaders were and yet he never mentioned George Bush, Dick Cheney, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz or Donald Rumsfeld. George Bush had a much cushier life than Obama, went to prep schools, avoided going to war by getting special treatment, Cheney had 5 deferments, etc.

Nice that he served his country, and sorry for his injuries, but he sounds personally bitter, full of partisan hate and blaming democrats for his situation is partisan bs. Not buying a word of it. No wonder this is on an obscure website. He's full of it.

Not sure where you're getting your numbers.

I'm getting 48K total.

Agreed and after reading what a lot his supporters say, they are full of it too.

He starts with a flawed premise (that the war resulted in "freeing the oppressed Iraqi citizens") and thus ends up with a lot of flawed conclusions.

For example, the idea that putting US soldiers in Iraq for a longer period of time would actually lead to any sort of permanent stability within Iraq. Iraq is demographically-fractured. Most of the violence in Iraq today has a sectarian element. How would keeping US soldiers in Iraq change that fundamental fact? The idea that America "gained" things in Iraq that are being "lost" is part of that flawed premise. What have you actually gained if the water starts pouring through the dam the moment you take your finger out of there?

It's unfortunate, but sometimes wars are just useless from a national interest perspective. And Iraq was certainly such a war for America. The lesson is, don't trust politicians who scream and moan for wars of choice halfway around the world, whether in Iraq or Syria or Libya or Ukraine or anywhere else. Because they're probably lying to you.

That blast obviously rattled the poor guy's brain.

He writes an angry, insulting letter to Obama for the Iraq invasion:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re just another elitist rich thug who’s pretended to live the rough life growing up in the inner-city. You’re only worried about your own agenda and furthering your party instead of taking care of Americans. Your inability to be a leader at some of the most critical points has caused both of our wars to fail. You’ve been a joke to most of our veteran community and we have no faith in your ability to lead.
