We saw at the High School level. That is those who can be honest about it can admit it. Jocks get the easy pass.
Public speaking =/= intelligence.
I know some very elegant speakers who dont even know PEMDAS.
What is even more offending is that these college athletes not only demand now that they get PAID but they also want to reap the benefits of a college education/degree, that they don't even WORK for, so they can have a failover in the event they endure a career ending injury in sports.
Seriously, END all college athletics and let these dudes go straight to the pros and fail @ life in the event that crap shoot doesn't work.

At this point I think they need to drop the pretenses. Have mixed squads. Reserve some slots for paid athletes and the remainder can be traditional student athletes. So say for an 11 man NCAA basketball roster a team can have 2 paid non-student athletes.
As usual, you're clueless and know nothing about sports.
He did work for his scholarship...on the football field.
Moreover, college football is here to stay. Get used to it And they deserve to get paid.
The SEC just split 309 million bucks last Friday in Destin. The athletes made those profits, not the chemistry majors.
Besides, what do you care about who wrote his papers. It's not your problem anyway.
I used to be in the , "well they get scholarship camp". I've changed my mind due to the Real Sports story and others. These coaches are making a lot of money as are the programs.
They worked for that billion dollar pie, and they deserve a piece
Face it...you sports haters have lost..
I used to be against giving Div I athletes a stipend but I have changed my tune. The mere fact these kids can't work to earn money is ridiculous to begin with. How are they supposed to live? Sure they are fed and housed but that isn't what college life is about. I read stories about a kid like Ben Mclemore who played for KU a couple years ago and he was poor as dirt. Ten folks living in a one room shack in east st. louis?? How is he supposed to even buy clothes? Then folks scream when boosters sneak em money. Hell I'd take it if I were him or thousands others in his situation. Would five hundred bucks or whatever a month included in their sholarship hurt? I say give it to em. Like you say sports especially the big football programs make piles of money they can spare a little to these kids since they won't let em go pro out of high school anymore.
After reading about the tens of millions some of the college coaches are signing contracts for recently and learning how many millions schools are making from the basketball and football teams, college athletes should be paid. Everyone else is making huge sums. Most college athletes will never be professional athletes or get a usable degree either. They should benefit from the money being made by their talents, too!
That is on them. They are given a great opportunity something most will never have to get that degree. If they blow it thinking they will earn millions in the NBA their fault. Take advantage of what is given to you..............or not.
Harrier cares, because he writes all of his papers, and for this guy to cheat while Harrier has to earn a grade is a slap in the face of academic honesty.
Well I knew some guys in the frats back in the day who would buy the test from upperclassmen to get their grades. It aint just athletes who try this crap if that is what this bum did. Happens up and down the spectrum of course this kid is a NC hoopster so it makes the news.

What is funny is that everybody thought Richard Sherman was some thug until he started speaking and then folks realized he graduated from Stanford. Never judge a book by it's cover. Some folks have learning disabilities too. You ever watch Blind Side? Hell the Chiefs had a kid named Jerrell Powe who was in that boat. I'm sure you would just call him an idiot and move on.
