New York City is launching a program that will provide legal representation to "poor" illegal aliens facing deportation.

Please! those aren't "poor city residents who have been detained in the immigration system and are facing deportation." Those are potential Democrat voters who have as little regard for this country, its laws and sovereignty as do their handlers and advocates.

These people are criminals, and the last thing we should be doing is providing lawyers to people in court accused of crimes.

Except for the 6th amendment. Do you hate the Bill of Rights?

I do. I also don't believe that the constitution should apply to non-citizens.

Well, the quote was to someone else who stated criminals...not illegals only...don't deserve council.

I believe the Bill of Rights and amendments cover actions, not just government actions to citizens (or non-criminals as other quote suggests) only. It's the supreme law of the land...not the supreme law that only covers citizens. That if someone is here illegal it's okay to enslave them or subject them to cruel/unusual punishment either.

The backlog for deportation hearings is near 400,000 cases.
It will be years before they even appear before an immigration judge.

Okay, people can say things that are not related of the thread topic...

I disagree. I think it says something about our morals how we treat others. It's also the current law that just because a person is illegal anything people want to do to them is not okay...as they are not "cut adrift." I think it is just as criminal to beat, rape, enslave, murder or anything else illegal to do to others is still illegal if they are here legally or not. They are still human beings and deserve human rights.

Giving more rights (representation) to an American mass murderer or serial killer than someone here illegally is wrong.

Really?

My genetics professor in college is a non-citizen. Let's say he was accused of murder. Would it not bother you if the government decided to skip the trial and just went straight to locking him up for the rest of his life or perhaps executing him?

If the Constitution didn't apply to non-citizens, that'd be perfectly allowable. Right?
