The U.S. Department of Interior (DOI) will be in the Hawaiian Kingdom holding public meetings throughout the Islands from June 23 to August 8, 2014 to get responses from the Native Hawaiian community to consider reestablishing a government-to-government relationship between the United States and the Native Hawaiian community. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell who visited the country last year heads the DOI.

OP, are you for restoring Hawaiian sovereignty? Maybe along the lines of a monarch-parliamentary system, like England? That would be so cool if you guys could pull that off.

"In response to requests from the Native Hawaiian community, Hawaii’s congressional delegation and state leaders, the U.S. Department of the Interior announced today a first step to consider reestablishing a government-to-government relationship between the United States and the Native Hawaiian community. "

This appears to be good news for native Hawaiians wanting to retain their culture and identity. Would your attitude and position be different if it was native (mainland) Indians?

I only wish it could be restored...... in the way it was before the illegal overthrow.

Doi wants to grant some kind of nation to nation relationship.... ceptin the native hawaiians would be called a community? Tribal is what the Doi is pushing for, they wanting to include us in the many other tribes they deal with on the mainland.

When the Kingdom of Hawaii was overthrown it was exactly that a Kingdom a very well established Kingdom, nothing more nothing less

Well, it's a state. Until you're not a state, that's just how it is.
