What happens to someone with Diabetes that has more then one bathroom break a day?
News, That's what a union contends the manufacturer is pulling: timing bathroom breaks and warning employees when they can't beat the clock.
The union, Teamsters local 743, filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board claiming WaterSaver unfairly disciplined 19 workers in June for "excessive use" of washrooms.
They can use the bathroom 66 minutes out of every 9 hour shift without being subject to disiplinary action. If you can't take care of business in that amt of free time you need to go see a doctor.
More ******* Union BS is what this whole issue is about.
How many breaks do they get in a day? Plus a lunch? I deal with bathroom commandos where I work. Go to break for 25 minutes come back and then 5 minutes later need to go to the bathroom. Go to lunch for 45 minutes come back and 5 minutes later need to use the bathroom. Uhmmmm why not use the bathroom when you are on your break? Most people do. The most common excuse I get is: "That was my break, I didn't want to waste it going to the bathroom."
That is what your breaks are for....
My wife prior to her job as a recruiter for the hospital system she is at now used to work for a staffing agency as a recruiter. She remembers talking to potential candidates from a local 3rd party collections agency, and hearing some of the horror stories as to how they treated their employees. Being that they were doing high volume calling, the employees had to raise their hand to go to the bathroom, and it was at the manager's discretion as to whether or not the employee had permission to get up and go. Managers were known to tell people that they couldn't get up from their desk, and to go in their trash can. Now, I tend not to be a low class individual, but what I would have done is walked into that manager's office, peed in his trash can, said **** you, and walked out! Honestly, I'm suprised that this agency is still in business, as they have quite a reputation. Having worked at a bank in recovery, I can tell you that this agency breaks every FDCPA rule, and has been reported to the attorney general numerous times.
But I digress, there is no need for an employer to treat their employees like 2nd class citizens.
