I'm a conservative and I get along with liberals, hippies, libertarians, atheists, jews, muslims, gays, blacks, whites, hispanics, and people of all walks of life. I tolerate other people's view points even if I disagree with them, I don't think it makes them "bad," it's just a disagreement.
Only people who I don't get along with are pushy radicals regardless of their view point.
I can see where conservatives could get along with liberals and understand each other's views. I wonder if the other groups I mentioned could ever get along with each other, though.

Sorry. Someone who believes abortion is murder is not going to get along with a woman who has had three. They'll feel bad for them, but it isn't "getting along".
Many conservative positions are seen as uninformed or bigoted towards homosexuals.
The truth is we can all get along with most people for 10 minutes or so. After that we start getting upset if we are to different and walk off.

Okay, I guess it depends on how conservative or liberal a person happens to be. There's too much ambiguity.
It can usually work when people have manners. Not every interaction with another human is a debate, mostly that's left to the forums . Most interactions are fine.
And just for kicks, sometime the Christian fundamentalists, conservatives, hippies, and liberal progressives are all the same person...at different points in their life!

That's true. Experience does influence our lives quite a bit. Adults also tend to be more civil than children.
I get along with everyone. I rarely come across people who talk about politics or religion, let alone guns, immigration, same sex marriage, global warming or abortion.
Conservatives need to learn tolerance for those who a different.
Liberals need to learn that big government does not work and the best way to stimulate the economy is to let people keep more of what they earn.
The issues of the day are too polarizing so it should come as no surprise that there will always be one group against another.
