you libs can never mind your own business...always trying to control other peoples lives on the guise of trying to help them. you libs are such pathetic human beings.
Even sadder is that Carter's subject cause is something (global warming) that just plain doesn't exist. That insults me when somebody wants to control people for something so frivolous to the average American.
I think a better solution would be significantly lower taxes (or none at all ideally) on green energy.
What are you talking about, the renewable ernergy sector is not wanting for any tax breaks. For something like solar you can get a 30% tax credit from the feds and in most cases another 20% from the state, fully half the system is paid for by the taxpayer.
On top of that many of these systems can create green credits which are sold to the power distributor so they can meet state imposed mandates. Those costs are passed onto the ratepayer.
That even before you get into the tax incentives and subsidies given directly to the industry itself.
After all that it's still not as cheap as fossil fuel.
B.C.'s carbon tax has been a smashing success. Big reductions in carbon output, an economy which is growing faster than ever, and big increases in energy efficiency.
This is a revenue neutral tax and just becsue you have lower income taxes means nothing if your paying more for goods. All expenses are passed onto the consumer, you're paying for it one way or the other.
According to the globe and mail about 3/4ths of the reductions have come from greater efficiency standards. That really isn't effected by what you use to generate electricity so logically coalman's point is largely a mute one.

Even the Globe & Mail was forced to say "The Shocking truth about B.C.'s carbon tax is that it works."
the carbon tax has zero to do with reduction
America uses less gasoline then 10 years ago, even though there are more drivers....and there is currently no carbon tax
why do liberals always want to penalize (tax) the workingclass???
