60% are TAKING more than they contribute, making them a net drain on society.

60%.
How are they a net drain on society? They pay sales, property, and payroll taxes.

Funny, you constantly complain about poor people not paying income tax but won't say anything about the 26 corporations that pay no federal income tax. I guess they are a drain on society as well

FICA is a tax that everyone on the payrolls pays. Sales taxes is a tax everyone who buys something pays. Saying 47% of people paying no income tax ignores the other taxes that people pay.

As a president his job is to worry about all of us.
No, they didn't like being called out as the slackers they are and he was right. They never would vote for him. So now we have a president that takes care of the slackers off the backs of the working class while lining pockets of the wealthy.

No work morons..

He was talking about the then 47% of people who pay no federal income tax. That is what the 47% that was so carelessly bandied about represents.

He didn't quality his statement in any way.

The 47% INCLUDES, as has been noted many, many, many times, retired people, disabled people, and many others who have no tax liability.
If he didn't mean to include EVERYONE that made up the 47%, he should have said so.

This is what happens when memes get repeated without thought.

Read the article: Greg Mankiw's Blog: The Progressivity of Taxes and Transfers
And read the CBO report: http://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/fil...ndFedTaxes.pdf

They're receiving more in local, state, and federal government services and benefits than they're paying in taxes.

Will do!

Baloney. W/O them, there is nothing remotely close to 47%. They are the single largest group of the 47%. The trust fund baby though has never be astute.

Totally false. Those age 65+ are only 14.1% of the total population.

If only the people getting the government EBT money would work as hard to get a job as they do defending stealing from others.
