Where else but Texas?

Woman, children accidentally pulled over by police at gunpoint

Saturday, August 23, 2014
FORNEY, TX (KTRK) --

Shocking new dash cam video shows a young mother being pulled over at gun point by police in Forney, Texas, all while her four little kids were in the car. Police admit they made a mistake but are refusing to apologize.

Kametra Barbour says she was driving four children under the age of 10 home when she was suddenly stopped and surrounded by police.

Shows that the cops CAN BE COLOR BLIND when they want to... when the reported color is beige but the nearest black person is driving a burgundy car. Actually I can see the mistake, beige does sound a lot like burgundy.

The mother and children are lucky that one of the children did not stick a toy gun up near the window or they would all probably have been blasted.

It sounds like the problem is communication between dispatch and officers, but not necessarily the response of the officers assuming they thought they had the right car.

We know that the car was reported as being tan or beige, but what did the police who did the stop know? Did dispatch make an error? Did the radio have so much static that they just heard the "b" of beige and thought they heard burgundy?

The fact is, there isn't enough information to know if the responding cops mucked this up or not.

Yes there is. It's right there in the video. Complete with the audio from dispatch.

Good Lawd. The dispatcher's message was clear: a tan or beige Toyota with four black men!
The cop even lied to the lady that her car's license plate (!) matched the description.

There is enough info and yes, they did muck it up and once they figured it out, they apologized.

I didn't watch the video. I went by the story and what it contained.

If it's clear that the officers were informed about the vehicle, and they pulled over one that didn't match at all, those cops should be fired.

So, if it's on the video, they have no excuse and should not be cops.

One of my greatest fears. Getting pulled over by a cop that follows the "you look like everyone else of your ethnicity".

Apologizing would never be enough to me. That's something that will stay with her children/herself for years to come.

Clearly, these cops are poster children for the failure of the American public educational system....
