The 15th annual Jesus In The City Parade takes place in Toronto today ending at the provincial parliament buildings - with the government's help and seal of approval.

Jesus in the City / Festival of Praise International

"Over 100 churches and organizations have gathered since 1999 at the annual Jesus in the City Parade with an attendance up of up to 25,000 in a live musical street pageant of floats, bible costumes, choirs, bands and worshippers celebrating their love for God and love for people through music the arts and culture. Banners of the books of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation are raised as participants wearing colourful parade T-shirts sing and dance to lively upbeat music along downtown Toronto streets. The event brings thousands of people from different Christian denomination, charities and organizations."

A woman who was stuck in traffic on Yonge Street as the parade went by, sent in an e-mail the day after the parade saying, “It brought tears to my eyes to see everyone praising Jesus. It felt like it was what Heaven will be like!”

As long as they get a permit any parade can really go through Toronto, and they do. Why is this controversial?

I could understand how it would make someone people happen. Being someone who believes in Jesus, I am aware that there are some who don't want to see others worship. I don't see anything controversial about worshiping Jesus openly. However, because there are those that do, seeing such a parade would make believers happy.
