Absolutely. I've said for years that we need another Teddy. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are as close as we have seen in a long time. I'm itching for them to run for the White House.

T.R. was the last real Capital-"R" Republican. There are no more genuine conservatives in the GOP. What a sad bunch the Neopubs are in comparison to the giants they had at one time.

Haven't seen it yet, but even though I'm not technically a progressive, I do love me some Ken Burns. His last three (National Parks, Dust Bowl, Prohibition) have been up there with his best, and at least two of those (National Parks, Dust Bowl) have a passive-aggressive progressive bite to 'em that I kinda enjoy. They're like the Ken Burns version of trash talk.

Also, his National Parks one features some great Roosevelt(s) stories. Probably my favorite was the one where young Teddy hears about the bison herds getting shot to death out west, and thinks to himself, "Oh no, I have to do something before they completely go away." So he gets on a train to the west, finds a bison, shoots it in the face, and brings it back. And then becomes the most important conservationist in the White House ever. No wonder Burns is devoting 1/2 of a 14 hour documentary to that crazy awesome bastard.

I preferred Theodore to Franklin, but they were a powerful family that helped improve, guide, and protect our nation. Their family should be proud of their service to all of us.

I can't wait til they use the media silence about FDR's polio to rationalize totally ignoring Obama's history.

Gee, the people making this program couldn't possibly be presenting things in a certain light, could they?

I just noted the progressive imperial presidency and disregard for third branch; the courts. Nothing has changed as they still believe in making decisions for the sheep that follow.Of course foreign policy definitely changed they they both believe in defense and not shy about using military power. Both believed in use of military power to build a powerful America.

The Roosevelts points out that both men and Elenore learned (1) to have empathy for others even though they came from a privileged background , (2) They believed that government exists to do good and great things (3) Leaders must lead it is better to fight the good fight and lose than to not try or or take the path of least resistance. and (4) It is the duty of the rich and privileged to roll up their sleeves and help those less fortunate. They all helped drag this sometimes recalcitrant nation into the modern era. Think of the firestorm we would have today with a later day TR or FDR!! Maybe we are lucky we have a more timid man in the Oval Office who is more like Mr Wilson.
