"Attkisson said, “I called CDC not long ago and I said how many cases are being monitored in the United States and they said 1,400. I said, ‘Where are these updates on your website? ‘ They said they’re not putting it on the web."
Please don't turn this into an Ebola major or minor scare thread. The thread is whether the CDC should inform the public of the number of potential cases they are monitoring.
She's a conspiracy nut. Sharyl Attkisson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In October 2014, just before the publication of her book, Attkisson released a video that she said corroborated her allegations of having her computer hacked.[27]
However, some liberal commentators and security experts have suggested that the video appears only to show that the delete key or the backspace key on her keyboard was stuck.[28]

The 'experts' referenced in your Wikipedia link evidently made their diagnosis only by watching a video of her computer screen that Attkisson took with her cell phone and posted online. That's absurd. You can't make a diagnosis like that by watching a video of the screen. You'd have to get physical access to the machine and take apart the keyboard to know if there was a stuck key. This guy actually had access to her computer in order to diagnose what was going on.

So back on topic, the obvious answer is yes. A big part of the initial mishandling by the CDC was miscommunications and apparent conflicting statements that created mistrust and suspicion.
Do you really believe there are about 1,400 Ebola cases in the US? This and a chem-trails post. The conspiracy nuts are active today.
You missed the OP's point. The point is that the CDC should be posting its info on an accurate and timely basis. I imagine that if there are 1400 being monitored, it is probably related to the flights on which an infected person was a passenger. On the Frontier flight there were 132 passengers. The 132 get off the plane and have contact with 10 others, and now you have 13,332 people to monitor. It doesn't mean even one of them are infected. It just means that there's a possibility of infection. Frontier Airlines Looks For Additional Passengers on Plane After Ebola-Infected Nurse's Flight - ABC News
Once the midterms concluded, politicians and the media lost interest in Ebola fear monguring.
