Just saw this story online. These no-knock raids are dangerous for everyone involved and need to stop. Outside of warrants for terrorism suspects or murderers these types of raids shouldn't happen...

Quote:
On Friday, May 9, 2014, just after 5:30am in Killeen, Texas, Marvin Louis Guy was the target of a no knock raid.

The officers were looking for drugs, yet none were found in the home. There was some questionable paraphernalia, but nothing indicative of drug dealing- or anything damning enough for a reasonable person to feel the need to take an officers life.

Unfortunately the danger of no-knock raids is real. just ask the parents of baby Bou or the family of Detective Dinwiddie.

Detective Dinwiddie was one of the SWAT officers who broke into Guy’s house on May 9th, based on a seemingly bogus informant tip off about drugs being dealt from the home.

Likely alarmed by the men climbing through his windows at 5:30 in the morning, Guy and his wife sought to protect themselves and their property and fired on the intruders- in self defense.

Once again, nothing can be done about this. Legislators fear they would be voted out of office for being soft on crime by wanting no knock raids to be more restrictive. Another reason legislators can't do anything about is because they take money from police unions. Also, the police have the right to take all the cash they find in such raids, so yet another reason why nothing can be done.

Yes, something can be done.

What part of "local civilian control" do you not understand?

The chain of command for local police is not Police Chief - FBI Director.

The buck stops at the mayor's office.

If they were deputy sheriffs or county police, then the buck stops at the county commissioner's office.

Anytime you all want to put down your iPhones and your video games just long enough to tell your mayor to put a leash on the police or find a new job, you can do that.

For those who are citizen-challenged, I charge a $3,000 non-refundable retainer plus $750/hour, for which I will personally turn off your video game and put your cell-phone away, take you by the hand like a small child, and lead you down to the next city council meeting and walk you up to the podium so that you can voice your concerns.

I'll even write the text of your oration for you.

You can even broach the issue of amending your city charter to limit campaign contributions to only those persons legally eligible to vote in city elections, so that you can eliminate the foreign influence and electioneering by corrupt enterprises, and have a chance to have 3rd Party Candidates.

One stone, two birds....

Mircea
