I watched/listen to it and I have to say - kudos to the person who wrote it. A great speech for the most part, written for the wrong person. The words came out of the mouth of someone who is known worldwide to be a liar.

I think the only input Obama had, in the way of adding to it, was in the following quotes:

Quote:
I realize that America’s critics will be quick to point out that at times we too have failed to live up to our ideals; that America has plenty of problems within our own borders. This is true. In a summer marked by instability in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, I know the world also took notice of the small American city of Ferguson, Missouri – where a young man was killed, and a community was divided. So yes, we have our own racial and ethnic tensions. And like every country, we continually wrestle with how to reconcile the vast changes wrought by globalization and greater diversity with the traditions that we hold dear.
I didn't realize that Ferguson was of international importance, right up there with what is going on in the ME and Eastern Europe, and was on the minds of people worldwide.

And this:

Quote:
But we welcome the scrutiny of the world – because what you see in America is a country that has steadily worked to address our problems and make our union more perfect. America is not the same as it was 100 years ago, 50 years ago, or even a decade ago. Because we fight for our ideals, and are willing to criticize ourselves when we fall short. Because we hold our leaders accountable, and insist on a free press and independent judiciary. Because we address our differences in the open space of democracy – with respect for the rule of law; with a place for people of every race and religion; and with an unyielding belief in the ability of individual men and women to change their communities and countries for the better.
Funny thing was that when he referred to ISIL, the quick quotes put up by CNN during the speech were changed to ISIS.

Here's the speech that was written for him:

When Obama speaks, the sounds equate to the sounds your dog makes when you give the command to 'speak'.

Obama and the dog speak on command but only unitelligible sounds are created.

With Obama, the world outside of US media control knows that his spoken words must go through a gestation period as they become reborn thru O's interpreters, weeks, months or years later.

The world holds it breath as they wait to see if Obama 'evolves' to change his previously stated nebulous 'position'.

Ferguson has been front and center on all the foreign press. It has gotten especially heavy coverage in places like China where it is used as a low-key anti-US propaganda tool: "see, look how it is in their country. Our system is much better." Our dirty laundry is out there and has been seen worldwide. Obama acknowledging our problems and stating how our beliefs affect their resolution is right on target in the modern media driven world.

Too funny
If china behaved as the US does globally, it could have used Ferguson as pretense for bombing us in order to aid the rebels.

It's completely unabashed hypocrisy! HE stated "#43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back -- $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That's irresponsible. It's unpatriotic." only to add more than 10T by his lonesome! But this is just fine with his cheer leaders, and they'll also defend HIS new war which he created through his own hubris and arrogance.

This is getting way beyond pathetic!

The racial tensions in Ferguson were fabricated by Obama and Holder. There's no 'there' there.

He's a complete moron that has no grasp of the world and it's current state of affairs. His stupidity has killed a lot of innocent people and his lack of any strength in leadership has changed the world view of the United States forever.

Default The most articulate President ever

Another great speech. Someone writes a draft of a speech. The President reviews it and adds his particular changes so they reflect his thought. He then delivers an always completely effective message with great depth, class, poise, and effectiveness. He makes the type of great speeches that Republicans can never make and can only dream of. In fact, he's a two-term President because of his speeches and his enormous success getting his message across in obliterating and owning Republicans.

No wonder Conservatives hate him.
