Eric Holder's Legacy as Attorney General: Duplicity and Incompetence

There are many fair points that thinking liberals would have to agree with and no mention of his IRS "investigation."

Could have been a good article. Unfortunately, it's credibility and impact is totally deflated by characterizing Holder's refusal to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act as a positive.

Try reading the article again...very slowly.

Quote:
Despite some positive actions — refusing to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, a federal law that is plainly discriminatory, and calling for long-overdue sentencing reform, for instance – Holder’s tenure has been marked by a disturbing mix of duplicity, incompetence, and obliviousness.
The author is saying it is a good thing that Holder didn't enforce the Defense of Marriage Act.

P.S. Even if the author was saying what you falsely think he said - how would that wipe out the dozen other solid factual points?

Holder negotiated the deals with WA and CO to turn a blind eye to federal law on marijuana. Regardless of how one feels about mj legalization, the AG is not supposed to be able to strike laws from the books. The Constitution assigns that job to the US Congress.

It's a worthless piece. It does no good for a vehicle such as Time to complain about someone like Holder only after he is leaving. The time to complain is when they are doing the things you later complain about.

All Attorneys General and all District Attorneys engage in discretionary decisions about where to apply their resources. That is true regardless of place or party.

The Obama administration's lawlessness began when they refused to prosecute Banking CEOs for the financial collapse. It just continued from there.

They will be remembered for corruption and reckless spending.

By all means, do not even try to stay with the actual topic, spin it back to the Bush administration. You do recall that Holder worked for the Bush administration, right?

We are discussing his actions under the Obama administration, some of which should have had him fired or imprisoned instead of praised by Obama.

Those who feel the need to apologize for his actions are only revealing their ignorance of the law and support of law breakers, in spite of their sworn oaths.

I agree, but I'm good with it anyway. These kinds of pieces help keep in the public mind what a weasel Holder is.
