Threads like this one should be amusing, but then you read the replies and come to the realization that, yes, there are so many ignorant people in this country who feel that a cold snap or a bad winter negates the average global temperature increases that are directly linked to the use of carbon based fossil fuels that, well, it is really not funny after all. We cannot properly address this problem if are elected officials continue to be on Exxon's and the Koch Brothers payroll and do their bidding in denying basic science to their buffoon supporters who vote for them and believe what they say.

This year very well may be the hottest ever recorded, yet the first cold spell and all the sheep start braying that there is no such thing as climate change.

The last six months were the hottest EVER since 1880, says NASA | Daily Mail Online

I'm getting some popcorn and waiting to see the barrage of pro-agw zealots try to rationalize that the colder it gets the more it's AGW to blame.

Dude, don't you know that the answer to all weather pattern is Global Warming...such as:

What caused hurricanes...Global Warming.

What caused flooding....Global Warming.

What caused earthquakes...Global Warming.

What caused record cold...Global Warming.

What caused high temps....Global Warming.

...........Global Warming.

It's 2014 and people still don't know the difference between weather and climate.....

It's actually not getting colder globally.

... Warmer air in the polar regions forces the jet stream south, and in this case the remnants of Typhoon Nuri pumped a lot of warm, moist air into the western Pacific and pushed it into the far north....That warm air is pushing the jet stream far to the south causing the cold event.

The warmer the Arctic gets, the further south the jet stream will dip... Over the past 30 years, the Arctic has warmed more than any other region on earth, so expect more cold winter weather in east USA and Canada.

Tell yourself that heat = energy and it all becomes clear.

I could make the same argument that people don't know the difference between man induced weather, and natural weather cycles.

Mars has heated up and so have the rest of the planets. This is a clue that there's something bigger at work here.
