Isnt that the root of the issue, if parents where more in childs life the turn out would be tragic?
MIchael Browns father was in his life only 4 years.
Browns parents should have raised him better not to rob a store and have better morals?
You ask a question regarding the "root of gun violence" then talk about parents role in child upbringing; seriously?
You've got everything from retired ex police captains in their 70's shooting guys in theaters for cel-phone usage during the previews and you're going to put stuff like that down to "bad parenting"?

thats a rare case, but see younger people act out mostly, like a 12 year old boy with a fake gun got killed.
it is the root of your behavior of your surroundings of your environement.
Good behavior has to be instilled from youngin, like raising a dog. you punish a dog when it acts up when it learns to act right.

Ah, no; I beg to differ with you because you used the term "root of all gun violence" in your thread title. You then went on to target the victim who did not have a gun. He may have precipitated his own death through his bad actions but he didn't bring the gun to the party.
All gun violence has far less to do with young people acting out through lack of parenting than it does with guns in the hands of people who may have had the best parenting in the world but are poorly trained, possessing a gun for all the wrong reasons or just plain stupid.
The stresses of poverty have a huge impact on crime, on marriages, on child psychology... blaming it on the parents is thinking small. Oppressors throughout history have justified their oppression by blaming the status of the oppressed on breeding, bad parenting, inferior culture, lack of willpower, and so on... but the fault always lies on the oppressors.
Honestly, the phasing out of the DARE program in schools. If the kids go on later to be a druggie, at least they know what and who is out there to stop them. It's a win/win and any kid who sat through the program at least has some respect for the Police.

No, I don't think it's that simple. It has more to do with race/ethnicity/culture, in my opinion.
It's hard to parent well when 70 percent of black families are single parent families.
