The New York State Office of Tax Enforcement has less than 100 investigators (who are sworn state certified peace officers) to cover the entire state ... furthermore the NYPD has taken on most tasks that would normally be performed by state level law enforcement agencies in NYC. There arent even any state troopers assigned to NYC anymore.
