Cannot remember if I heard it on CNN, FOX, MSNBC, or the local news, this morning before I headed out the door. Now I cannot find it on a google search.
Good luck to any protesters who try to mingle with the packed New Years Eve crowd. There won't be enough room to wave a placard.... and all cameras will be on the Anderson Cooper/Kathy Griffin debauchery not on them.
I have only heard there is a lot of extra security surrounding the entire NY City downtown today and will continue into the night. I think we can all understand why. Like it or not, there is a lot of racial tension right now and NY EVE brings out the best and worst in many.
People protesting “Police brutality” of felons resisting arrest, and calling it murder do a disservice to legitimate protests by their useless idiocy. Of course, those who instigate such know their goal is not justice, reason nor common sense. They intend to dissolve the union and the constitution by any means, fair or foul.
When Americans embraced the notion it was a good thing that government TAKES from one to GIVE to another, they embraced their doom.
How else did you think they would ENFORCE that?

The event has always been ripe for a terrorist attack. I can't think of a more challenging job in the US than being a Police Officer on duty in Times Square NYE, where anything could happen.

I agree. Not that, as a confirmed west coaster, I have any personal knowledge! But I have to say, the films I've seen of this event over the years has never convinced me that I wanted to be part of it!
