Me either, it behoves me, how many people come to this country and demand we change? How dare they be so arrogant.
It behooves me to point out that people move to new places all the time, and then share with us how much better it was where they came from and how people in the new place should change. Living in rural Arkansas, it's a regular chant at city council meetings.
And, similar to what happened in this case, the city council dismisses the requests.
I don't understand a group of people who don't like their homeland, leave to another country, and then want to mold it into their homeland. They need to assimilate.
Yep. There are fundy christians making similar requests at city council meetings all over the US....and they are ignored too.
Yes...as they should be. There are always fanatics out there. Thankfully, we are governed by a Constitution that mandates government to be secular. This is the type of extremism that the Founders feared. After being under the yoke of a monarchy, who was the enforcement arm for the Church of England, I'd say, that clause was shrewd of them.
Though the issue of government secularism does, often, get pushed to extremes itself, i. e. lawsuits because a child prayed, openly, in class at school, there IS a good reason it's there. Thus, city councils can just ignore the occasional , rabid, Fundy, Christian, Muslim or other. And so can We the People.
During the public comment time at the Dearborn, MI city council meeting, a Muslim stood to demand that the city institute sharia patrols to keep young people out of parks and to prevent the sale of “offensive” magazines in stores.
Sharia patrols are common in many parts of Europe....
A man, one man, used the public comment period to express his opinion.
How is this any different from the massive Christian protests about the Harry Potter series and demand that such books be removed from public and school libraries?
Yeah but a couple years back a couple fundametalists snuck onto the KS state school board and then tried to derail the teaching of evolution.
They were stripped of power, voted out the next election and nothing changed.
Yet lo and behold it's still a meme repeated over and over that they don't teach evolution in KS and they're backwards blah blah blah.
Honesty and fairness are two rare animals in this forum.
While I'm familiar with the history of efforts by Christian fundamentalists in Kansas, I'm unaware of any meme that they don't teach evolution in Kansas.
