The schools in Nordic countries that consistently outperform the US generally don't test students until the upper grades. They primarily focus on behavior and problem solving skills, not concrete right/ wrong answers. It works for them.

The consistently top scoring Asian countries are all about conformance and testing. That works for them.

Grade school bullies taught me plenty about grit. In Jr. and HS I taught them plenty about grudges and vengeance. I learned how to suppress grief in 'Nam. I guess I would fail modern schooling for being improperly socialized.

Demographics matter I suppose. It should be noted on PISA tests that White Americans were competitive against Europeans, I believe they outscored most countries. Ditto for Asians vs Asian countries. African Americans actually do better on PISAs than most Latin American countries.

My friends and I used to play "Army" at recess. I think today we would have been suspended for that.

Frank, part of the BIG problem with these loons bing in charge is that they have also been in charge of colleges.

so the testing to get into college include a lot of the nonesnse common core is teaching.

so if you home school, or private school your kid, they are still going to need to be able to deal with this stupid mind bending culture altering crap we are getting from our prog-education system.

its about time to not just cut them off but come up with some higer education private schools that teach the stuff people need to know without the prog-crap.
