I saw a meme comparing Hillary Clinton to hitler because both have said things comparable to this ideal.

Bonus question: should business's needs come before individual's needs?

Yes to society's needs coming before individual desires. Society is a collection of individuals, and addressing the well-being of society is to make it a better place for most individuals. Why should a few individuals be so special as to be prioritized over the rest of the individuals?

And society's needs should come before business's needs. If a business is legitimately beneficial to society, there won't be much conflict anyway.

Society's needs are best fulfilled when individuals are allowed to pursue their own self interests with a minimum of regulation to ensure against fraud and harm to third parties not involved in a contract between two willing partners.

The butcher and baker do not care for you...and that is OK.

They wouldn't allow me to give you rep for the truth, so I can only give a thumbs up.

Society's needs should certainly come before an individual's wants.

Depends on what need is being addressed. In the 1940s, it was argued that internment camps were best overall for society, but I image Japanese Americans would not agree with that statement. However, your right to low taxes may need to be removed when infrastructure is in desperate need of repair or a potential war in imminent.

As a general rule, individual liberties should not be taken away to benefit society (as in internment camps or slavery). But sometimes, society should come first.

And business should never come first. Ever.

Society > individual ... I can't imagine a society that feeds an individual. That sounds like a kingdom to me.

As far as business vs individual, I think that depends on the context. If we're talking about the environs of the workplace, then obviously its the business that comes first. But in the confines of a society, I would argue the individual comes first. Business doesn't thrive unless there is a market base that can purchase from it anyways ...

Not if the rights of the individuals are trampled upon.

There is something to consider. A society is nothing without its individuals working together and respecting one another's rights. What is a group composed of? Individuals. You can't forget about the individuals because without the individuals, there is no group.
