Travis County clerk issues first legal gay marriage license in Texas | www.statesman.com

I'm so happy for this couple. It's a shame that already the cruel, bigoted politicians in charge of this state are already attempting to void the dreams of this happy couple.

All I can say is that Texas tends to identify as Republican, Republicans support small government, and then they go and do this.

Small government doesn't care who marries who. Neither does the other Republican view of individual liberty. But what I do I know...

You must be confusing what Republicans say they support with what they actually support.

The two are generally polar opposites when it comes to intrusive government and individual liberties.

After 30 years as a couple and raising two children, who can morally deny this lesbian couple had a marriage? It was well past time they should have been legally able to obtain the benefits and rights under the marriage laws as a married couple.

I think there's a generational gap.

How many other people got married in Texas this year?
Why don't they have their "15 minutes of FAME"?
I really don't care any more.
