No, he won't get fired because of the precedent it sets and the real threat of a lawsuit. If they fire this guy for saying something stupid, then they will have to fire anyone that says something stupid and I doubt there is anything in the city charter against saying something stupid.
I think this is a bit more serious than we think. I will be honest and be the first to tell you that I am straight down the middle when it comes to reason. It may take some time but I usually get there. I think all the actions of these people in Ferguson that are spewing hate and disrupting life is unreasonable.
But then you have to ask, where does mentality come from? Same way they burnt and burglarized stores, calling it right that the officer's were shot. It literally is disturbing behavior. But nobody wants to touch it. It's either you are pro police calling them thugs, a police hater, or a racist with nothing in between.
I really believe that there is something deeply embedded within the black community beyond our comprehension. Do you think it is normal for some of these responses? To be ok with officers being shot? Do you think it is normal for black people to call a white officer a pig after watching a youtube video of the officer being shot to death and screaming for his life? Do you think that it is normal for other blacks to say "that is sad but they understand where those other black people are coming from"?
But here is the thing- this is too difficult for most people and they don't' want to deal with it. It's easier to shout pro police, police hater, or racist then to figure out where all this comes from. And it's not lack of education.... Clearly the city manager and many of the others holding prominent positions are well spoken enough to sound as if they have been well educated. But their thought process on the subject matter is what puzzles me.
“I think it was a set up between members of the police fraternity; what I like to call them. I think they operate just like the KKK. I think they did it to make themselves a victim when honestly the victim are black people. I think it’s just a publicity stunt no more than that.”
He is a city manger and he made such statements. He services at the pleasure of the council ;so not surprised. Likely he doesn't have a career as a professional city manager anyway.
