How Do You Think The Rest Of The World Views Our 2-Year Presidential Campaign Season?
It could be a good idea. Rather than send letters to foreign governments to discuss U.S. political process, that process could be hashed out over the air waves and issues resolved. Which it would be if the national media had any interest. If the 'foreign government' misses the details - well, that would be their problem.
The same would apply to any/all issues. A wide open public debate to find out where a political activist stands on any issue. If they choose not to respond then there would be no hiding that position come election day. Maybe that could get the media involved in an in depth search for an honest politician.
To take the opposite side, one feature (it's not a bug, it's a feature!) you get from a seriously large and long term campaign is that you are testing the candidates ability to put together and run an organization of this size. It's not like they are super hands-on, but then neither is a President.
Hopefully, this time around, the press isn't fully committed to a particular candidates victory.
Personally, I think we're on the cusp of the big data companies (*cough* Google *cough*) not only being the biggest players, but being highly partisan king makers. Google might as well be considered an arm of the DNC given the political proclivities of it's staff. The targeted marketing that can be done, along with opposition research, will essentially throw the election.
I have to admit that I think that if you took *any* modern candidate or successful aspirant, put them on stage without notes, and ask them to give a lecture on foreign or domestic policy, they'd look like bumbling fools. The last President to actually carry anything around in his head was probably Nixon.
The world's greatest constitutional democracy a comedy show? Nice of you to show your appreciation for the gigantic security blanket the USA provides your country. Certainly a nation of limp wrists would struggle if it weren't for the USA propping it up. I promise you that the vast majority of Americans could care less what our Caucasian Midget Cousin to the North thinks about our election system.
And the clown show begins....What security blanket would you be talking about? When has the US ever done anything for Canada, other than provide examples of what not to do?
The election system ensures the status quo always maintains power because only the 1% can afford the hundreds of millions of dollars it takes to make it through the marathon campaign season, or if not very rich personally you depend on sponsorship from the 1% and are beholden to them once in office.
