Lets see Stop and frisk came about because of violent gun crime in NY and lower crime. police did what was policy in NY and then people complained that were getting caught. The same people advocated risking arrest and killing cops. now who are the bad guys really. In fact perhaps some need to make it more serious crime to resist and give cops better methods of stopping it. with less chance of them being hurt in what is really a street fight. start by the person disobeying the resting standard of supreme court .Few seem to point out citizens here kill a lot more cops than other countries already.

The utter stupidity of the so-called Justice Department in the Obama administration is mind boggling.
Who knows more about policing urban environments than a bunch of politicized lawyers from elite schools in the DOJ?

Having fixed policing, it's on to soccer I guess.

Considering I live in this region, and despite the reputation of being one of the most dangerous cities in the country in terms of crime, I have to say that I'm happy folks are keeping a cooler head unlike what we saw in Baltimore and Ferguson. For the most part the protests here have been peaceful. I think Cleveland has more than its fill from riots given what happened here in the 60s, and want no part of the violence!

On the other hand, and to make a little light of things, have a ref make a bad call costing the Browns a victory (Bottlegate anyone) and watch s*** hit the fan! LOL!

The problem goes beyond the police treatment of black people. It's the mission - stop and prevent all crime at all cost. That is problematic, since No room is left for common sense. For example, hot chase persuits in crowded areas. If a suspect (maybe driving with a suspended licence, or carrying pot in his car) tries to escape, police will give chase at 100mph putting the lives of the officer, the suspect and innocent pedestrians at high risk. They are not told to exercise judgment. That it is not worth. Perhaps they can catch that suspect later. But catching the (probably) petty criminal at all cost, carries a much too high price for all.

A polite police force that uses only the force necessary....and people want to say thats a bad thing?

Whats wrong with people? Is it OK cause they're hitting the OTHER guy?

My local cops work hard to de-escalate things, to talk things out. Its been a winning strategy. Make no mistake, you pull a gun, or get actually violent and you're going down hard. But they de-escalate most situations, and get a lot of respect.

Most police officers already follow these guidelines. This is another layer of bureaucracy inserts the DOJ into local policing.
