Food stamp recipients targeted by Assembly bills

Essentially this bill in Wisconsin limits the amount of junk food that people on food stamps can buy as well as administering some drug tests.

What do you all think?

Other threads have discussed this ad nauseam.

In any case, I find it to be silly, and I don't care about what they eat.

But I ain't from Wisconsin, so I'm like...whatever...

Anytime you take Taxpayer money, there should be restrictions on what you can do with it.

I support actual food stamps. You get stamps that you can use for chicken, stamps you can use for vegetables, stamps you can use for milk, etc.

If I have to pay for your food, I have the right to restrict it to healthy essentials.

From the perspective of politics, it will bring incremental " big food" lobby money to Wisconsin.

It's another pointless measure designed to punish poor people for the crime of being poor, supported by people who don't think about the issue longer than the time it takes to read a bumper sticker.

1st, food stamps and welfare should not be forever...there should be a limit to how long someone can remain on the dole....it's fine to give someone a "hand up"...but when you do it forever, it becomes a "hand out"... When you have to take either, you need to get off your duff and look for work...do SOMETHING to improve your situation.

2nd, yes...there should be restrictions on what they can use OUR money for...if they want the freedom to buy anything, EARN your own spending money. Very simple.

Does that apply to the military, too?

No one is being punished. SNAP is SUPPLEMENTAL. They are free to spend their own money on the junk food.
