Support for Same-Sex Marriage at Record High

"As the Supreme Court prepares to decide a key case involving states’ requirements to recognize same-sex marriage, public support for allowing gays and lesbians to marry legally continues its rapid rise: A 57% majority of Americans now favor allowing same-sex marriage and 39% oppose. As recently as five years ago, more opposed (48%) same-sex marriage than supported it (42%)."

This is good news!

Marriage is a sacred institution. Many people believe a same sex marriage is an afront to God because marriage was supposed to be justification to have children. Well times have changed. Marriage has changed.

I still think it is odd how people can love each other until "death do us part" then they get divorced a short time later. What changed?

I don't see the big deal about gay people marrying and it is good news that people are coming around to it.
I know a gay couple who have been together 20 years and were finally married last year. They now have rights of a spouse that otherwise they would not have had. Before if one got sick the other would not have any say in the care of his loved one but the family would which is crazy. No one knows the concerns of another like a partner.

I know another gay couple who was recently married and I think it is a complete shame and they are headed for divorce.

I'm glad the tide is turning there are more important things to worry about than not allowing 2 people who love each other to marry.

But we dare not let the people of the various states define the purpose and function of their marriage laws, we must shove the two judge majority opinion of a three judge court down their throats.

The people are totally incapable of deciding society's laws, so say the liberals.

I think these polls is why gays where so shocked when vote ran against them in California. One reason we do not elect by polls. Often the question asked skews the results.

How long until Republican candidates drop their opposition to it as it becomes a barrier to winning swing states?

The polls have changed drastically since prop 8 was passed.

Actually, prop 8 did not surprise me. I was expecting it to pass as Cali has a large population of blacks and Hispanics. These 2 groups have traditionally been proportionate more bigoted than everyone else.

Nor should we ever.

Sorry, I know no one that has changed their mind on this issue.

Oops!, maybe I should say "evolved".

This certainly bodes well for Rick Santorum's chances.
