Nothing has been banned. Those who removed did so at their choice. Those who want can actually display what they want and even make rude cartoons calling it satire which liberals even approve of. The conflict goes on because some seem to like it; IMO.
After today's ruling, I won't be surprised if there is a late-summer release of Barackback Mountain.
I have a family member involved in Hollyweird, and he speaks pretty highly of AHX. I haven't taken the time to watch it yet, but maybe I'll check out the YouTube link of it. My relative has had a few interactions in the late 90s with Tony Kaye, and said he was a bit of a head case (a director, acting like a diva? Say it ain't so, Joe!) who nearly had his name legally changed to Humpty Dumpty in protest over AHX.
I still laugh about the potential of a grown man calling himself Humpty Dumpty. Good stuff.

The answer is never. Banning is only a thin cover that allows infraction to fester. Americans never do banning very well, even though some of us always feel the need for it.
Freedom of speech includes freedom of artistic expression. Controversy is not a bad thing. That's how we continually re-define our nation, and that's how our nation has survived the worst of all possible strains put upon it in the past and in the present.

American History X is hardly a film supporting racism. Other than going inside the skinheads and showing that rather...odd..subculture, and how the leaders sucker young white kids in. Its a great film. Certainly a must see.
