Hate crime charges sought in July 4 beating

...I'm sure the prosecutor will put the kabosh on this. It's not like there will be riots or anything.

hate crimes are as nonsensical as thought crimes...well unless the victim is considered to be in one of the governments protected classes ( hint: white males arent one of em)

I agree. But if they are on the books, I'd like to see them applied equally. I'd rather see them off the books though.

If they have a case, it makes sense to try and get it as a hate crime.

Good! I'm going to camp out in front of the television tomorrow just waiting for Loretta Lynch to say the DOJ is on top of this and will be opening a hate crime investigation. I'm sure Obama will make his comments either directly before or after that ... right?

Hate crime laws are just a backdoor way of regulating thought.

Hate, as unpleasant as it may be, is a private matter.

I disagree, it isn't hard to figure out if something classifies as a hate crime.
