I'm surprised, too. History is a passe part of our education system, along with reading, writing and arithmetic.
Education is all about diversity, feelings, and tolerance. Yep, those subjects will keep us competitive in the world economy.
That speaks quite a bit about your education. Venture out to real quality universities and you'll experience real education. Stay out of public school.
Once upon a time before all this box checking for admittance to universities really caught on, I thought an Ivy league school would most likely be a stretch for me academically. As I observe the current “higher” educational landscape, it is apparent to me that the only place where I would be challenged today is the local public library.

University students will sign a petition to ban dihydrogen monoxide, they're smug and ignorant enough to sign anything that sounds like they're being counter culture.
I sometimes wonder how these people make it through life with such gigantic sticks shoved up their butts all the time. Seriously, is that all people do anymore? Just walk around outraged all the time?
Being "offended" is seriously the weakest thing you can do as a human. It's telling the world that you are such a weak coward with no spine that other people control your emotions and how you feel. I don't think any great, successful, or happy person ever got to their station in life by being offended all the time. If you are "offended" at things all the time you are a loser.
